Children in Need

November 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

Over the years Children in Need has supported Birch Wood in giving our student’s the fantastic opportunities available to them during their journey through Birch Wood.

For Children In Need, we have an exciting day planned for our young people, including a visit from Pudsey Bear.

It will be a Non-uniform day on Friday 12th November. We ask for a voluntary contribution of £1 to support this important cause.

Students in Ashton House and in the Grange Drive Provision are supporting the Children in Need’s Rickshaw Challenge. As you may be aware, this is where young people who have faced challenges in their lives, ride a rickshaw from one side of the country to the other, to raise money for Children in Need.

In their Maths lessons students are having an Enterprise Week and have been challenged, as a class, to raise £5 profit to support the Children in Need’s Rickshaw Challenge.

Students have come up with many ideas to meet this challenge and include ideas like cake stall, Splat the teacher stall, and various games students can play to win a prize.

On Friday 12th November, students will launch their enterprise ideas. We encourage students to bring in some money to buy items from the stalls of their peers to support the Children in Need’s Rickshaw Challenge, and to improve their money handling skills.  We would suggest students bringing in an amount between £2 to £5 in coins, as change will be limited.

We are all looking forward to this exciting and fun filled event.

Thank you for your support
