⭐ Lea Green Residential Update – Day 2 ⭐

10CM all had a good nights sleep and the morning activity saw them all stream walking, which was challenging but they all did very well and really encouraged each other. After lunch the group were supporting each other on the team swing where the students were very brave and determined.

We hope you enjoy some photos from today, we have lots more to share with you when 10CM return!

⭐ Lea Green Residential Update – Day 1 ⭐

10CM have settled in to Lea Green really well. The first thing they did was make their beds ready for this evening.

They were amazing on the high ropes, showing great bravery and supportive teamwork.

A group of students helped prepare the tea, whilst another group did the wash up. Afterwards, they went out for a walk, navigating their own route. When we returned back to base, the students went to the games room to play pool, table football and giant Connect 4. We are all excited for another fun day tomorrow!

Birch Wood School is under Ofsted Inspection today and tomorrow. This is a short inspection to check how we are doing and will not be graded. It will however advise if we are still good or improving and could be outstanding.
Good luck everyone for today. ❤️

Over the Easter break, the specialist sensory lighting, equipment and sound system for our soft play was installed. This week our young people have loved exploring the new waterless rainbow and hurricane bubble tubes, vibrating plinth and multi-coloured fibre optic strands, all of which can be controlled with accessible switches. We even have mood lighting for the whole of soft play, which changes the colour of the ball pit. We have seen so much visual attention, curiosity, persistence and cause and effect being developed this week, all in an incredibly engaging, stimulating and fun environment…that makes us as happy as the pupils are in these photos! Yesterday lunchtime chess club started at Birch Wood Vale for students from BWV, Ashton House and Birch Wood College. The club got off to a great start with over 16 young people attending. Some students had never played chess before and were beginning to learn the names of the pieces, the moves and the rules of the game. Others had played before and enjoyed the challenge of a competitive game. Great fun was had by everyone! See MoreSee Less

On Friday 22nd March we finished celebrating Autism Acceptance Week, with our ‘Spectrum of Colour’ day.

As part of the day’s celebrations, all our students from Grange Drive, Birch Wood Vale, Ashton House and Birch Wood College came together to take part in a ‘Colour Walk’.

Each corridor at Grange Drive had a different theme that students could interact with:

🫧🫧🫧 Let stereotypes float away 🫧🫧🫧
🥁🥁🥁 Bang out judgement 🥁🥁🥁
❤️🧡💛 Reveal your true colours 💚💙💜 💡💡💡Let your individuality shine through 💡💡💡

What an amazing opportunity for all our sites to all come together and celebrate Autism and neurodiversity! ♾️🌈
