Learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. Our residential offer gives pupils meaningful opportunities to apply their skills in real‑life settings; building confidence, independence and resilience through shared experiences beyond school. Today, Ashton House are on Day 1 of their residential at Lea Green and what a fantastic start it has been. Pupils have embraced challenges canoeing on Comford Canal and exploring the Derbyshire caves, showing courage, teamwork and determination as they stepped outside their comfort zones. These moments matter. They support pupils to face fears, develop self‑belief and recognise what they are capable of achieving. We’re ending the day with some fun in soft play before dinner, followed by a night walk – the perfect close to a brilliant first day 😊 We are incredibly proud of our pupils and staff for making learning count where it matters most. … See MoreSee Less
We are incredibly excited to share that Liam will be completing this incredible challenge at Birch Wood this Friday!
At around 2:50–3:00pm, Liam will be running past BWV/BWC, down the path past the football club and finishing at Grange Drive.
Our whole school will be out on the playground to clap and cheer him on as he makes his final steps to the finish line and we would love for anyone who can to join us at the school gates to do the same. 💛👏
Let’s come together as a community to celebrate Liam’s commitment, determination, and the incredible cause he’s supporting.
💛 Let’s cheer him home! 🏃♂️✨Wishing the very best of luck to Liam Collins as he takes on an extraordinary challenge this week – 3 ultra marathons in 3 days, visiting every Discovery school! 🏃♂️💨 Liam is raising vital awareness and funds for YoungMinds and the #HelloYellow campaign, championing children’s mental health and reminding our pupils, families, and colleagues that no young person should ever feel alone.
We are behind you every step of the way Liam! You’ve got this

As part of our Behaviour & Culture commitment, we are beginning to record a series of practical workshop-style videos to support families.
Before we begin to make these videos, we want to hear from you:
